St. Blaise

Church of St. Blaise, Glottertal, Germany.

Dressed as a bishop in mitre and cope, the saint holds his crozier in his right hand and in his left the pair of candles customarily used to bless the throats of the faithful every February 3rd.

The mitre and cope are less elaborate than is the case in images of bishops before the 19th century.
